Prep time: 10 mins | Bake time: 35 mins | Yield: 10–12 brownies
Directions:
Grease and line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
In a large bowl, whisk the dry ingredients together. After melting butter, let it cool slightly, and then add hot water, vanilla extract, and eggs. Whisk to combine and pour into the large bowl with dry ingredients. With a rubber spatula, stir to combine. Fold in chopped chocolate or chocolate chips.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Next, spoon the cherry filling evenly on top of the first layer of batter. Then add the remaining brownie batter on top, gently spreading it over the top.
Bake for 35–40 mins. For best slicing, let cool for at least 20 min on a cooling rack.
